The 4s secured promotion from Division 5 with a comfortable victory against a youthful Alderley Edge side yesterday.
After a disjointed warm-up, we took a while to grow into the game but started scoring regularly after 10 minutes. Many of our goals came from turnovers in Alderley’s half, with our high work rate proving difficult to contain. Unlike the Crewe fixture last week, we didn’t let Alderley back into the game.
Seb had a great game, scoring two unstoppable tomahawks and was unlucky not to complete his hat-trick with a forehand shot.
In a game of firsts for Brocky, he wasn’t the oldest player on the pitch, got substituted, and was banished by Charlie to left mid, where he ended up being pushed over by the smallest player on the pitch.
A special mention must also go to Kirky, who arrived late and then left early once he realised we were doing a post-match team photo—and he hadn’t had his hair done.
Matt Cocks, who is on holiday next week and thus finishes the season on 49 goals, was heard arguing furiously with Beth about rearranging flights so he could play against Winnington and get his elusive 50th goal. What an achievement though—thanks, Matt.
MOTM: Seb, 2 well taken goals
DOTD: Arlo: wasn't going to tell us he'd been called up to the England hockey 6 nations squad! Well done Arlo, remember us when you're famous.
