It was opposites day on Saturday, as the 4th team started a game well and then forgot how to play hockey. We scored 11 goals without reply in the first half, every one a tap in at the back post following some great build up play that had the travelling spectators purring. Sammy M was throwing aerials onto postage stamps and Brocky was rolling back the centuries with an impeccable display of free flowing hockey. Nearly everyone got on the scoresheet (ahem, Kirky) and despite not going at full throttle, their were no complaints at the interval.

Clearly the half time Port and scones were not of their usual vintage as the 2nd half display was not quite at the same level, shall we say. Passes which were zipping around in the first half were too late and too slow in the 2nd, and Crewe began to grow into the game. There was a 10 minute spell were we didn't score a goal, fortunately at this point Gus J decided that his knee had fixed itself and subbed himself on to score a 5 minute hat-trick. With the game drawing to a close, Arlo 'the Benevolent' decided that the need for a Crewe goal was greater than his desire for a clean sheet and the Crewe striker lapped up the opportunity with an admittedly tidy finish.

I've never seen a group of players so unhappy at winning 17-1 but that's just where we're at at the minute. Thankfully Sandbach beat Macc 2s, leaving us 4 points clear and needing 1 more win to secure the title.

MOTM: Gus J, needs to grow his hair to hide a thinning top and he'll be Del mk2.
