The Men’s 4s secured an emphatic victory against Macc 3s on a cold, wet, dark, blustery, miserable Saturday afternoon. We made a fast start and were soon scoring. Macc struggled to get the ball out of their half, and with Brocky in a better humour after reclaiming his mantle as the oldest player on the pitch, we controlled the game throughout. Despite having a myriad of short corner opportunities, most of our goals came from open play, with seven of our players getting on the scoresheet. We were 7–0 up at half-time, although we were guilty of taking our foot off the gas at times.
The second half was much the same as the first. Rob C completed his hat-trick (cue the inevitable goal drought), and Matt C scored two more goals from well-worked short corners to take his tally to four on the day. The standout moment of the match, however, went to Jack W, who in a moment of sheer brilliance hammered a half-volley upright reverse into the bottom corner for a nailed-on goal-of-the-season contender. The final score was 15–0, as good a preparation as we could have hoped for ahead of the tough fixtures coming up.
