The 4th team continued their winning run with a 7–0 victory against Knutsford 2s yesterday. We were straight on the front foot from push-back, creating some good chances in the first few minutes. A theme of the first half was our lack of composure in front of goal, which, combined with a standout display from the Knutsford keeper, kept the scoreline to a respectable level. Matt C eventually broke the deadlock and followed up with another to leave us 2–0 up at half-time.

Rob C scored immediately in the second half from a good assist by Gus J. This settled us down and we spent the remainder of the game camped in the Knutsford half. Deadline-day signing Sammy M was an enterprising addition at centre back, and we fielded six U18s in our squad of 13 yesterday — a testament to the strength of our junior section. They were instrumental in our tried-and-tested tactic of doing our best to run every team we come across off the pitch.

In amongst all this, Matt C slotted another three goals past the increasingly disheartened Knutsford keeper, with Gus J administering the coup de grâce with a fine finish at the back post from James C’s rifled pass in the last play of the game.
