We took a few lessons from this game — the main one being that having a week off hockey does us no good at all. What we’ll be like after the December break is anyone’s guess..!

We started the game badly — a shame after having played some really good, intense hockey in the last few weeks. Knutsford had a strong side out to face us and put us under pressure right from the off. After having a Knutsford PC chalked off, Matt C scored against the run of play. Knutsford then responded with two quick goals to leave us 2–1 down. Albie then scored following a goalmouth scramble right on the stroke of half-time to level things at 2–2.

After a lively discussion during the break, we started to play better hockey. Rob C scored to put us ahead again, and we really should have pushed on from there. Knutsford had other ideas, though, and in a physical contest, the game went end to end. They scored after a turnover and could easily have had a few more if not for some great saves from James C. As it was, the final chance of the game fell to Rob C, who was denied in the last minute by a lucky pick off the line by a Knutsford defender. Alright, fine — it was an unbelievable save, but I’ll be thinking about it for weeks now, and I’m busy enough as it is.
