Our U16 Boys competed against Brooklands, Bowdon, Timperley and Preston at the NW Indoor Championships on Sunday. Having been coached by Matt Cocks in the weeks leading up to the event, the boys were on top form and played fast and skilful hockey in all their matches, winning 3 of them and boasting the highest goals scored and goal difference of any of the teams. Tragically, a plainly wrong decision disallowing a DRHC goal (admitted after the match by the umpire manager) cost us a vital draw against Brooklands which would have seen DRHC rather than their opponents go through to the National Finals. It was a great shame, but the boys nevertheless enjoyed the event enormously, despite the bittersweet ending.
