DRHC awarded "England Hockey Clubs 1st" accreditation

Deeside Ramblers Hockey Club is the 5th hockey club in Cheshire to have recently been awarded the England Hockey Clubs 1st Accreditation. This award represents official recognition from Hockey's governing body that the club is working towards providing a Safe, Effective and Child Friendly club environment. It represents 18 months of hard work by the Coaches and Managers of Deeside's Junior Section in ensuring appropriate systems are in place to allow Junior players to enjoy and develop their hockey at the club in a safe environment. England Hockey Clubs 1st Accreditation is part of Sport England's Clubmark, the generic award for 32 sports, and is a nationally recognized accreditation.

Youth Development

As a result of the club's link with Tarporley High School, the club provides a hockey coach for the feeder primary schools that feed into Tarporley High School. These schools are Kelsall, Eaton, Huxley, Delamere, Manley, Tarvin, Tarporley, Utkinton, Bunbury, Calveley and Duddon. Those schools participate in Deeside Ramblers Primary School's Hockey tournament which this term (there are two in each season) takes place at 1pm on the 25th March 2010 at Ramblers Tiverton headquarters. On the last contest held in November 2009, Tarporley beat Tarvin 1-0 in the final. Previous winners have been Bunbuy, Tarvin and Eaton. The whole enterprise shows hockey to children and introduces them and their parents to the club.

LTAD - Long Term Athlete Development

England Hockey’s Single System (LTAD) – Deeside Ramblers Hockey Club Juniors are benefiting enormously from England Hockey’s Single System of hockey for Juniors which is effectively up and running and is the way forward for our sport, for those who are not familiar with it, please bring yourself up to date by accessing all the information via the England Hockey website. Please ask your child’s Coach for more information and be sure to speak to any of the Juniors , and there are approximately over 30 boys and girls, currently in the system who should also give you an insight into what may be possible for your child.

Parent/Carer as Volunteer

The Club is always keen for parents to get involved with the Junior Section particularly in the area of Coaching and Saturday Game Management and from our experience we have found that the more that get involved the less onerous it becomes and any contribution however small is invaluable.
As a guide to the areas in which we request your help, please see “Parent/Carer as Volunteer”, Page 5 of the Member Pack. If you have a wish to contribute, please make yourself known to any Club Official or your child’s Coach.
